Question Overthinking DL's

OK...Dead Lifts vs. Romainian DL's... is the Romainian (in FL1) roughly the opposite of the standard dead lift? (Starting at the top instead of the bottom?)

This is what I get for going back to review stuff when I already know what I'm doing...

I think of a Romanian DL as a deadlift without moving my hips/knees closer to the floor. What helps me is to keep my knees slightly bent and my back in a natural arc and to just imagine sticking my ass as far back as I can go; the rest will follow. Don't underestimate the power of a visual aid, try doing this and you will feel the difference. I definitely didn't have proper form before I started doing this.

Question Hmmm...

Paradigm,

So the Rom DL is something more like what some call a "Good Morning". There's more emphasis on the back and less on the legs?

I'm getting my book to read again.

I'm looking at the pics on page 111 now. Paradigm, I see what you mean. It's still not a "good morning" but does shift the empahsis a little. Thanks for your help.

I see the good mornings don't arrive until Strenght I

I really like this video from PowerManDL's YouTube site showing the difference between the conventional deadlift and RDL.

If you want to read even more, we had a similar discussion here:
difference between romanian DL and regular DL
