Default sub for step ups?

I dont have a high enough step and dont trust my bench to stand on with added weight....what should I subsitute for step ups?

What about taking the stairs two at a time? (Assuming you have enough of them of course.)

I really feel step-ups just do SO much that wouldn't substitute them for anything else. I use a weight bench.

I do them by using the second step up from the landing and it works just fine for me.

I grabbed some scrap 2 x 4s and built one when I started lifting last year. It's only 10" but it was good to start with (and start over again with :p ) and it doubles as a bathroom footstool for the kids. I need to build a higher one now.

It doesn't need to be huge or fancy, just sturdy.
