Default Squat options?

I over did it this past w/e and am really sore now. 2 days of surf in big conditions then 2 long days of striper fishing have left me moving really slowly. I think I farked my lower back up one day.

I'm not fond of doing squats since (a) I don't have a squat rack at the gym and (b) I'm scared of screwing my back up again.

Are goblet squats decent substitutes?

Can you get heavy enough with the DBs?

If barbell squats aren't an option, then at some point you'll probably have to substitute heavier single leg exercises like lunges or split squats, instead of actual squats.

I could marry a set of 120 pounders....I guess I'll work on more lunges/squats.
