Default Hyper III Questions

This week I started my last program of NROL, HTIII, after a 2 week layoff for some vacation and rest (my body was tired and sore after doing Strength II and III consecutively, and playing basketball a couple times a week.)

Tell me if you think this is a bad idea: rather than doing the Bulgarian split DLs in WO B, I'm doing standard DLs supersetted with split good mornings. This follows the straight set of 1 1/4 squats, so it is tiring (I did it this morning). I don't want to omit DLs for 6 weeks as I want to continue my pursuit of a 400 lb lift, and I'm afraid that I would lose too much of what I've gained so far.

Regarding the 1 1/4 squats: on the 1/4 phase of the lift, I was actually going up about 1/2 way because I felt this got through my weak point. Is that the point of this exercise, to improve the weakest point of the lift?

I can see how you decided on this change and it's probably fine. I can't read Alwyn's mind on the exercise choices, but my guess is that it's more for variety and the benefits that come from not over-emphasizing one particular lift. If you are motivated to continue with your conventional deadlift, I'd got for it.

From reading your posts I think you've got a good sense of what's appropriate. If you pay attention to your body and feel good about the deadlifting, with no hip issues or signs of needing a break from conventional deadlifting, then you'll be fine. Make changes if and when you feel you need them.

Yes, and what you're doing is fine.

Well, you did have some inside information on my decision.

One other comment about this point: following the squats with deads is tiring, but it really emphasizes the difference between the two lifts, meaning I felt the difference between the quad/glute focus and hip focus more dramatically than ever before.
