Default Hypertrophy 3, heels raised squat

Is there any reason that I shouldn't do a front squat instead of the back squat? I am much, much, much more comfortable doing the front squat and I keep hearing about trainers only using front squats instead of back squats.
Thanks.
David

I honestly can't think of any reason why using the front squat would be a bad idea. I have never been a fan of raising the heels on a back squat, and it surprised me that it was included in this workout. Whatever Alwyn's thoughts were on the subject, I still know it's smart to do what works best for your individual body.

How does the heel-raised squat impact the quads/glutes etc. differently than the standard back squat?

Raising your heels is going to reduce ankle dorsiflexion and move your center of gravity forward, making the movement more quad focused. I would consider this movement to be contraindicated for anyone with existing knee pain. I personally prefer a front squat for the same quad focus. If there's another reason to include this heel raised version of the back squat, I don't know what it is. I trust Alwyn, so I have wondered why he included it.

I just finished H3 and stopped doing heel raised squats about half way into the program....my knees still feel a little achy from it. I dont think the full/half squats helped either cause there was a little bit of bouncing on my part making the knee stress worse. So far this exercise is my only complaint about the program so far.

Well, I was so focused on having my heels raised that I forgot to do the extra quarter front squat! Oh well, the other 2 exercises were brutal. I don't feel cheated at all
