Hey everyone, hope everyone is doing great and making progress. Well, I've started using g-flux principles in my life and have a question for ya.
Using fitday, it says I am burning about 4000 calories daily, which in turn Im assuming that means I can eat 3000 calories but still be in a 1000 calorie deficit. Is that accurate or should I cut back a bit?
I can honestly say I hope its accurate because I certainly am enjoying eating 3000 calories but saying Im on a cutting diet. lol
Presumably, Fitday's calorie burning calculations are based on standard formulas for age, weight, etc. for various exercises and levels of activity. It says your activity level is burning 4,000 calories, but maybe you're only burning 3,000 if your metabolism is way off the standard that their formulas are built on. Then again, maybe you're burning 4,500.
You will just have to experiment. Start at 3,000/day for a couple of weeks, and track your progress closely. Adjust accordingly.
BTW, how many calories were you eating daily when you were gaining weight?
thanks hunter. Im not getting on a scale until Monday but look wise I really want to say it looks like I've leaned out a bit, even in a week. It doesnt look like I've gained, but I'll track it closely.
When I was gaining I stopped counting calories to close, but Id say it was probably up to about 5500 - 6000 calories a day, all clean. On that bulk I didnt put on much fat

Wow, that's a lot of calories! Going down to 3,000 calories would be a huge change, especially if you didn't put on much fat during your bulking phase. Does your energy seem low? Hopefully, someone smarter than me will weigh in on this, but that seems too drastic. It could be that the fitday estimate of 4,000 is low for you. Maybe try going down to 4,000/day for a couple of weeks and see how you're doing. That's still cutting your calories by about 30%.
ohhh no no. Sorry, let me rephrase. I stopped bulking about a month or two ago, I slowly reduced my calories then tried Berardi's get shredded diet, but that was way to hardcore for me. So I started using G-flux just recently. So technically, I've upped my calories to 3000.
I'd be a little hesitant to jump to 4000 calories consumed. You think I should? Fitday on average says Im burning 4000 between lifestyle, BMR, and activities.

I agree with Hunter that you will have to experiment for a bit--try 4000, 3000, whatever number of cals a day for 2 weeks or so and see how you react--are you gaining, losing, maintaining, ect. Then adjust for your goals.
BTW, fitdays numbers seem to be a bit "off"--at least for me, it overestimated how many cals I needed by about 600 or so.

I see. If you're not feeling low on energy at 3,000, stick with that for a while and see how your progress is going. If you're a** is dragging, up it to 3,500.
thanks guys. right now, I'm in a cutting phase. My goal is to try my best to get to single digit body fat by July. Who knows how that will go? Im pushing myself more then I have to get to about 10 - 11% so im hoping the extra activity will get me over the edge.
I'm pretty good right now for energy with the amount of work Im doing. I'll stick with about 3000 cals or so until next week to see whats going on.
I think I read Berardi says to do at least 7 - 8 hours of excersise a week for g-flux. Im not sure if he means heavy activity or just activity in general.
Im gauging calories burned through multiple things.
This is pretty much how my weeks break down:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday:
Stretching: 10 minutes
Body weight excersises: 20 minutes
Roller blade or Heavy bag work: 20 minutes followed by a 4 minute Tabata routine
Just curious what you guys think as far as following g-flux?
I can't comment - no experience. I'm just trying to eat a bit above maintenance to continue strength and size gains. I've got 6 more workouts left of Strength I, then I'll be doing FLIII, so I'll be watching calories a bit more closely.
