Default Step-ups again??? ARRGGHHHH!!

Just finished doing FL3, which featured not one but TWO step up routines on the same workout during workout B. Before that, I did H1 and H2, both of which also feature the dreaded Step-ups. In addition, I run stadium stairs twice a week. I've been doing a routine that includes step ups for almost 6 months now. Looking at S1 (my next quest), what do I see? Yep. STEP UPS. I'm nauseated thinking about it.

Any suggestions as to a good step up substitute to break the monotony?

LOL I feel your pain. I agree that since you're moving from FL3 and have been doing a step-up for so long that an alternate choice is a good idea, especially if you dislike the exercise.

I suggest doing a single-leg DB RDL in place of the step-ups in S1. This would serve as your unilateral hip-dominant movement, and it's a very good one, to be paired with your Bulgarian split squat as your unilateral quad-dominant movement.

You've been doing that BSS the whole way through too. Are you ok with that movement? You could be really rebellious and do a single-leg squat to a bench instead of that one too! HA!

Let me know if you need exercise descriptions.

Pistol squats? Tell me more..

Good advice on the SL RDL, Lisa. I'll substitute them. Am I sick of the BSS? Let me just say I refer to them as 'Bull $%^& Squats'. I've done single leg squats before, and I think I'll roll them in as well.

Your advice here is always great, Lisa. Thanks!

You're welcome!

Pistol squats are the toughest kind of single-leg squat. Here's a great page with all the single-leg squat progressions up to pistols.
