Default supine hip extensions?

What up everyone, I ran across this website while browsing t-nation, there's a lot of interesting questions being asked in regards to NROL, which i started following about two months ago. Hopefully I can learn a lot from you guys!

My question is in regards to Fat loss 1, workout A where Cosgrove pairs supine hip extensions with DB push presses.
Do any of you have suggestions for making supine hip extensions more difficult? I've tried making sure I have perfect form, but that hasn't really made the movement any more difficult.

Any ideas?

This comes up fairly frequently. Short answer is to move your arms in to that you need to recruit more stablizers to stay on the ball.

If that's still too easy, try holding a plate on your belly.

Be prepared to lose the plate when you add the leg curl in FL-II. They're a horse of a different color.

I've used the plate, it makes it more of a challenge.

I'm preparation for FLII, I do my even reps as the leg curl variant.

Is this exercise a hamstring exercise or hamstring/glute? I do not feel my glutes activating, though back bridging clearly gets them turned on.

Thx.

I was able to answer my own question. Straight-leg hits the hamstrings more than the glutes because of the length/tension relationship. Glutes are more involved in bent-leg supine bridge because the hamstring is shortened. Thank you, Mike Boyle.
