Default DL off box / substitute

Is there something else that could be done for this?
I can't do DL's (only romanians) - my chiro has told me to do so.

The focus is glutes, so how about cable pull-throughs (flat backed of course, think RDL posture but the line of pull matches the glutes more directly). Or go to a single-leg glute focused lift that would protect your back, like single-leg DB RDLs or even step-ups.
