Default My program

Please let me know if you all think this will work:

I'm 5'5, 108 - 110 pounds. I would love to build more muscle, but since it is bathing suit season... I just don't feel comfortable gaining fat at this moment.

So... I was thinking I would start w/ Fat loss I and work my way through the programs... I wouldn't mind losing a little body fat, then build muscle, then strength.... THEN go back to losing the bodyfat I gain while building muscle.

Does this sound realistic?? I've had my body fat checked at the gym... the trainer told me I was 14%... which I don't believe. I purchased a caliper and I get 17%... I think I'm more like 19%.. because I know these are not 100% accurate.

Thanks

If you are at that low of a BF% I would not worry about losing it. I would make sure you can do the break in program then go to one of the strength or hypertrophy styled programs

I hope the point you took away is that if your goal is to gain mass (muscle), some fat gain will go along with it, but your appearance will still improve.

If your avatar is you, I don't see you needing a lot of FL in the beginning. I would recommend BI, FLI (as additional adaptation work), then go onto the HYP programs.

Yes, I do realize the fat gain will come along, but I just need to wrap my brain around the idea.... I have years of body image issues...

It's me in the avatar... I really want to build muscle, I'm just terrified of the fat gains... summer is around the corner and I am in a swim suit a lot. I am very hard on myself regarding my figure... like I just stated in my previous post, I have body image issues... maybe I should see a shrink...:p

To build muscle, how many calories do I need to eat?? I am usually between 108 - 110.

108-110lbs?

Ok, I assume you're female, right -- being 5'5" and 108-110lbs?

Again, fat loss/gain, muscle loss/gain is 80% diet. Lou pretty much even says this. You could do the hypertrophy program, while eating at a deficit and lose fat. The lifting in the FL series serves two purposes:

1. Metabolism booster.
2. Muscle retainer.

However, I'm sure the hypertrophy series will do the same, but there are some days in the hyp series where it's low reps.

I just don't see you needing to lose fat right now, because you're already a flat ab.

Yes, I am female. I do realize that I don't need to lose much fat, but I am scared of gaining fat to build the muscle. How much weight do you think I will need to gain to build a little muscle? I don't want big muscles, I would just like a tad more. I think I can emotionally stand to gain about 5 pounds. Does that sound too little??

Ok, for someone who is at least moderately active, that's not going to happen overnight. You're not going to wake up one day and BAM! you're tipping the scale at 175.

Just be aware of what is happening: how your clothes hang on your frame, which way the scale is moving, etc.

I would say, go ahead, do the HYP series after FLI, watch your diet, watch the scale.

Also, plunk down $30 and get these:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/acc/fattrack.html

It's a 3-pt digital caliper and girth measuring tape. That's two more ways to monitor your progress for only $30. IMHO, a good buy.
