Someone asked about this and at the time, my camera was putting blue bars in the video. I figured it needed a cleaning, but I didn't have a tape at the time. Now I do (frickin' $35!).
You can't see my hands when my arms are at full extension, but you should be able to envision what happens.

The Chek press looks like a the Arnold Press everyone tries to copy from a magazine...
Everyone at my gym performs the Arnold press without fluidity, and "in-stages"--doesn't look right. Maybe Chek saw the same thing and said "Hey, I'm going to call that an exercise after me!".
The difference I see between and Arnold Press and a Chek Press is that an Arnold Press moves out and up, and the Chek Press moves up, then out. I think they both should be fluid. Cynic's showing the correct movements, but it'd be good to make them smoother.

I thought about that, maybe I'll try that next week.
I'm so accustom to defined limits of motion that I forget some exercises are more fluid.

Here's another description of the chek press:
Chek Press (modified Arnold press)
The Chek press is one of my favorite exercises for
strengthening and integrating back musculature with the
shoulder girdle. To perform the Chek presses choose
dumbbells that will allow for eight to 10 repetitions.
With dumbbells in hand sit on a bench with proper neutral
spinal alignment (erect trunk). With the dumbbells shoulder
height palms facing each other and forearms perpendicular
to the floor gradually opening your arms as if you are
opening a book. Proceed to push the dumbbells to an
overhead position bringing the dumbbells together in front
of you as if you are closing a book. Lower the dumb bells
to the starting position and repeat for the desired
repetitions.

Oh geesh... I am not sure what I did but tried it again and worked fine... Glad I got to see it... I wasn't sure if I had the right idea of them... Thanks!
I was getting that it couldn't be found and it could be an invalid name which I knew (or thought I knew) it couldn't be since it was a direct link...
This video on youtube seems like a varaition on what's described as a "chek press" here. Is this what a real chek press should look like?
Real? LOL As opposed to an unreal Chek press? HA!
Anyway, the video you posted shows the movement in reverse direction from the description in NROL. There are all kinds of DB overhead press variations. It's difficult to find a video of this movement because it's just not all that special. They're all OK to do I suppose. But the question in particular is what's the movement asked for in NROL, so let's review what NROL says.
Quote:
Dumbbell Chek press (p. 143)
Stand holding the dumbbells in front of your torso with your palms facing each other. Your upper arms are perpendicular to your torso and parallel to the floor, with your elbows bent 90 degrees. Press straight up from there. At the top, swing your elbows out to the sides so your palms are facing forward. Lower the weights to your shoulders, then swing your elbows back so they're out in front of your torso again.
I've bolded a couple of parts to help out. First, you should be standing.
Begin with the dumbbells in front of you (so like Cynic's video, but not like forevernewbie's video).
Push upward while the dumbbells are still in front of you. You don't open your arms until you're at the top. Lower the dumbbells like the last half of a regular DB shoulder press. Then bring them together again in front of your body to start the next rep. This is like Cynic's video, just smooth out the movement a little more than he did.
And Cynic, thank you again for doing that video. It's the best representation of the movement that we have.

Never a problem. I always do like to help out.

Since I had my camera at the gym today, I got my girlfriend to go ahead and demonstrate the Chek Press too.
Cynic was sweet enough to help me get it edited and then I uploaded it to YouTube--my first YouTube upload ever. BUT, YouTube did something to it and now she looks squished, kinda like one of those fun house mirrors that make you look short and fat. She's actually very tall, thin, and beautiful! Oh no!

That woman in the video is much more svelte than that. Youtube butchered the video by scaling it improperly. Stupid youtube.

That looks like an aspect ratio problem. For what it's worth, I could tell that your friend is a hottie even squished like that. I think for further clarification you should do a whole series of photos demonstrating exercises!

HA!
She's a sweetheart too. If we need any more demos I'm sure she'd help out.
