Default DB Exercises as replacements in FL I

I was wondering if this has been posted previously - DB exercises that can be used as replacements for some of the exercises in FL1, 2, 3, like for example:

1. lat pulldown
2. Seated cable rows
3. Deadlift (assuming this can be done with a DB but wouldn't it just be like a DB squat then?)

and so forth..

thanks in advance,
aap

They work better for some excersises better than others.

1. Lat pulldown-pullups are probably a better choice.
2.cable-seated row-you can use a bent-over DB row.
3. Deadlift-you'll need some pretty heavy DBs.

How about pullovers for the lat pull down replacement?

For deadlifts you can do RDL's with DB's. To make them more challenging you can do them single legged.

excellent, but i think in FL 1, workout B, deads and RDl's are in the same workout, if i'm not mistaken.

Yes they are.

The form is different for a db squat and db deadlift.

A DB squat would be more like a hack squat in that the arms should stay behind the shins, whereas with the DB deadlift, your arms and thus the DB would extend a little more to the front.

Or for DB squats you can clean the DBs to your shoulders and rest them on your shoulders perpendicular (so that the plates are front and back). Then you get a bit of the axial loading that is such a benefit with barbell squats.

Julie, that is an interesting idea. I have been doing my DB squats with my arms to the side, and have been wondering if I am losing some of that balancing impact. I am not sure how well the DB's will sit there (I am only using 40's, so it should not be too bad), but I am going to give it a try on Saturday.

Doing them on your shoulders would be more like doing a front squat with a bar. Either way it's all good.
