Stretch marks happen when the elasticity of the skin is not up to the task of (usually) rapid stretching. Pretty common to see in the anterior delts, thighs, and occasionally glutes with bodybuilding in those that are predisposed to develop them--apparently you are one of the lucky ones

They typically will stay red to pink for about 6 months to a year and then will fade to white lines. You can't cure them or remove them, but sometimes retin-A (need rx) 0.05% cream applied daily can decrease the redness a little more quickly, and using moisturizer on the area can help to decrease their visibility as well.
