Question Fat Loss I Question?

What can I substitute for Mixed-grip lat pull downs?? I workout in my own gym and don't have a lat machine. I have 2 Olympic sets, a flat/incline bench, squat rack with chin bar, swiss ball, and dumbbels from 5-55 lbs. I have substituted Bent over rows for the cable rows in the first Fat Loss I workout.
Thanks

A mixed-grip pull-up.

If you need assist, use a band.

What kinds of bands? And how would I go about using them. I have never used them before. Thanks for the quick reply!
Also my wife has been lifting with me, I don't believe at this point she has the upper body strength to do 15 pull -ups , maybe not even one ( she has just started lifting, NROL Break In is the only lifting she has done). Will the bands work for her too?

Bands are essentiall big rubber bands. Just hook them over the bar and loop them around your legs.

I got mine from elite fitness.

You would assist your pullup like this:

For your wife, if the band set-up is not enough assist, you can either assist her by holding her lower legs or her waist. If that assist is still not sufficient, you can have her do inclined pulls as an intermediate step toward a full pull-up.

I'll try to find a picture of those too.

She might like doing inclined (he calls them reclined) pulls like this:

He's using a rope, but you can pull on anything - a bar, straps, a rope, whatever you've got.

She can work her way up to assisted chin-ups (or pull-ups) like this:

You might want to look at that whole article. Mistrissing the Pullup.

I noticed that at the Elite Lifts site that they use the bands to do lat pull-downs by looping them through an Olympic bar. I think i may give that a try.

I have been trying pullups in the squat rack. You can lift a little with your feet, it works pretty well.

If, like me, you work out in your basement, you can jerry rig a lat set up with some cable and a couple pulleys. I did this I bought the stuff at "Lowes", bolted the pulleys to the floor joist, used two pieces of cable, a long one in the pulleys, and a shorter on made into a "yoke" to go over the db bar I am using to put the weight on. I put a 10.00 single handle on the cable and use about a 4ft pipe I slip in the single handle for lat pulldowns. Gonna by a real lat pull down bar soon, lol.

I was afraid it would swing too much, but it hasnt so far.
