Default Alternative to swiss ball lateral roll?

Hi,
Ive gotten my brother to start the New Rules, and he is on Fat Loss I. He really really hates the swiss ball lateral roll and refuses to do it..and there is nothing I can do to convince him. So I am left with helping him find an alternative.

What excercises can be used as an alternative for the swiss ball lateral roll??
Thanks in advance!
Mandy

The purpose of the SBLR is to teach core control. It requires you to support yourself on 3 points and control your core while you do it.

The best substitutes I can think of are the elbow touches that Tony demonstarted in this article, The Angry Trainer, or renegade rows, which are similar but a bit harder.

The renegade row is shown in this article with kettlebells, but you can do it with dumbbells. Exercises You Probably Don't Do But Should

Well, as a trainer you have to be able to come up with alternatives for lots of reasons. Sometimes equipment is in use, sometimes a person is limited physically in some way, and even just for variety and keeping the client entertained. So over the years I've gotten good at it.

"Refusing" to do something sounds like something a three-yr. old would do. If the guy respects the author and his advice, then I say SUCK IT UP and do the damn exercise!

I'm on his side. It's hard to do some exercises in some gyms. Especially when there's chicks lookin'

I was down at the GAP and overheard them sayin' they really like it when you do leg curls. Theres some sympathetic increased capillarization goin' on then!

Workout girl, tell your brother to stop being acting like a little girl and do the damn thing.
