Default More than two consecutive wo days?

Hi,

I'm doing HT1 and this week I had to miss two of my workouts due to a cold . I normally work out Mon-Wed-Fri but this week I only did Monday. I could catch up by working out Saturday and Sunday but then Monday would be my third consecutive workout day.

Would this be ok this one time given that HT1 is a split (upper/lower) workout? Or am I better off with just two workouts for this week? (Mon and Sat).

Thanks

In the grand scheme, probably doesn't matter if you stretch it out a bit. Two days in a row is fine. I'd give yourself a rest of one day, then get back into it. You could even do two days in a row, again and then be caught up. If I'm doing my math right...

Coming off a cold I doubt you'd have the energy to do three lifting days in a row. The cold set you back, just start back where you left off and don't worry about it. I'd suggest lifting Saturday, then get back on your M/W/F schedule and don't even try to "catch up."

I know how you feel about trying to catch up on the lost time man, but if you needed to miss the workouts due to the cold, I would suggest taking it easy for the next few days man. Just start back where you left off with the same M/W/F schedule. You might finish the HT1 a little later than you planned, but in the long run one extra week doesn't really matter too much.

As a rule, if you are ill enough to miss a workout, it's gotta be bad. No point stressing your body too much after you've just recovered man.

Don't try to catch up. Let your body rest as needed and then return to normal.

Also, the program's instructions clearly say don't work out more than two days consecutively - stick to the program, these guys set it up that way for a reason.

I hear you with that. I am sick with a cold now, and falling behind too. Going to take it easy next week, I may even delay jumping into strength I.

I believe when you have a cold, once the symptoms subside, you still have a few virus cells in your body. If you push too hard, those virus cells can replicate again, and the second time around they will be more severe. believe me, Ive been there. I had a cold once, thought I was getting better, went back into working out too fast, and BAM! I got sick again, and it was even stronger and longer than the first time. Dont take that risk!

yeah that's true. when you workout, your body's immune system is lowered temporarily due to the stress you put on it during the workout. This makes it a good time for infections to get you or to re-infect you.

Cold season sux......I am so annoyed that I cant work out and I am sooo bored. But the good thing about them is they force you to rest and strengthen the immune system. I usually feel stronger after I get sick for a week. Strange.
