Default Adding another set to Break-In WOs...?

I've just started the Break-In workouts--I've done one of each so far every other day, and on the in-between day I've done interval cardio (followed by stretching and the warm-ups in the book)--and I found the WO exercises to be good, but somehow not...enough. Not enough to satisfy my feeling of having had enough of a WO. I wish I could explain it better than that.

I don't want to raise weights much higher than in the increments I think are prudent (I'm not lifting heavy with 15 reps)--I will raise them a bit on my next go-round, and again on the second set, but form is still more important to me right now than straining and heaving with each rep. So I was wondering:

Would it be all right to add a third set to each of the exercises in both Break-In WOs? That would exercise me more, challenge my form as I grow tired in set #3, lengthen my WO to around 40-45 minutes, and perhaps satisfy this feeling.

What do y'all think?

No. The break in is to get you used to movements you'll use in the routines. If you've been working out before starting NROL you may want to shorten the break-in period and get into the routines.

I would add weight and just do the 2 sets. For 15 reps sets you're not going to be adding that much weight.

I agree with OldGuy. If you are not challenged by the workout, then use more weight. I'm not suggesting "straining and heaving with each rep," but using enough weight that 2 sets with good form is challenging. Completing each set with a slower tempo would add to the challenge and support good technique as well. If you are still not challenged, then move on to your first real program (Fat Loss I or Hypertrophy I, whichever program you'll be doing).

Hi Sona, lots of good info on NROL here. Most people find Break-In tough enough, normally because it is different to the routine they've been following. I would echo the advice above and simply add weight and not sets.

That is what I will do, then! I will add more weight next go-round AND slow my tempo on each rep, and content myself with the result.

Thank you!
