Default Hypertrophy I Workout B

I'm about to start Hypertrophy I but I have a problem regarding Workout B: squat and deadlift (with shrug) on the same day? that's tough!
Also, how to you setup the first superset (sq & dl) using one bar (take out the weights when transferring from rack to floor and vice versa?) or use two bars (which I'm not sure I can get)? any thoughts? thanks!

i dont have my NROL book with me, but are you sure the squats & deads are a superset. I did Hypertrophy 1 with no problems and i only have 1 bar.
I will look back through my notes tonight and confirm what i did.

I just found my excel sheet for Hyper 1 here at work, and i did the squats and deads as straight sets, not a superset,
still, its probably worth checking the book to make sure

and by the way the Squats and Deads are easy, wait till the Bulgarian Split Squats, the you will know pain

The squats and deadlifts are not a superset - straight sets for both, so you only have to commandeer one bar at a time.

Son of a bitch! I've been doing them as a superset with two bars! And I finish next week! I can't believe people have been complaining about how tough it was when they've only been doing straight sets!

You should all do it as a superset to make me feel better!

I did it that as supersets for more than half the workout - which I finish today, by the way.

This is too funny. I supersetted the squats and deads for a few workouts, but my excuse was that I was using the workout logs from "werkit" - and even they mistakenly have them paired up. I stopped doing that as soon as I found out. Nevertheless, it's a good hard workout even straight sets. Two more workouts left for H1!

Hold the phone! You mean that the squats and deadlifts are NOT supersetted? I just completed my first 4 sets of 10 workout supersetting them and it nearly bonked me. I've got a hardcover edition of the book (not with me right now) and I was sure that it said to super set them. Gahhh!

Nope! Duhh. You're all right. Straight sets. Thank goodness. Today was 5/5s and a superset just might have killed me.

OOps - I mistakenly paired them up in my logs I posted in the other thread.... I uploaded a new file and fixed the link at the bottom now. I just did the first HYP A workout today, so I hadn't noticed it.

lol I have been doing it as supersets the whole time too. I only have a hard time with it when I do my 3 sets of 15 reps. By a hard time, I mean when I get home I see the stairs and cringe... hahaha

I’m glad I read this as I am doing my first workout of HYP I – B tonight. I think Alwyn has us so used to supersets and giant sets that we just assume that’s how we should do them.

I think Lou Schuler mentioned somewhere that there is some confusion about the way in which the rest intervals and the "Super Set with Full Rest" instructions are layed out in the charts.

I just started Hyp I this week... I had browsed this thread previously, and made a mental note to remember that the Squat and Deadlift are straight sets...

I STILL did them as a superset...

Hopefully I'll be able to remember next workout "B"...

I think the supersetting would have made it easier. (Longer rest time.)

The Bulgarian alternated with step-ups is BRUTAL! OMG!

Just did this for the first time on Tuesday. I may feel up to getting back into the gym today... Or maybe I will decide that i like walking too much to ever do it again! LOL! Nah. Back to the gym!
