Default Over Training

Can someone please tell me if I am over training by using this program.
I practive martial arts 4 times a week at night. I am also doing boxing 2 times a week in the morning. I started NROL break in program this week. Should I cut out the boxing with this program.

Thanks

Can't say either way because it depends on the individual. Don't think of overtraining as OVER TRAINGING think of it as UNDER RECOVERY. If you are getting adequate food and sleep you should be fine.

With overtraining you tend to lose the will to live.

I would say with overtraining generally if you're unsure, then you probably are.

I disagree. Overtraining is a major condition in which physiologically and psychological functions are impared. This isn't fixed by merely a week off or slowing down it is often needs medical intervention.

That routine that was posted should be fine.

I'm with Josh...without knowing the specifics of what you're doing with the other 6 workouts or knowing what kind of frequency you're doing NROL or your age\eating\sleeping habits it's really hard to just say yes\no.

If you're 76 years old and the other training is intense and you want to do 4x a week w\ hiit thrown on top....probibly too much.

If you're 17-20's, in good shape, lift 3x a week, the other sessions aren't hugely straining and you get plenty of rest\food...you'll probibly be fine.

With that much potential work out there you NEED to eat plenty and if you're tired you NEED to sleep.

Thanks for your help. I guess the only way to see is if I do this for a few weeks. It was mentioned in the book that too much cardio will take away from your strenght and hypertrophy. The martial arts and the boxing is the only form of cardio that I get now.

Aren't there generally some tell tale signs of overtraining like lack of energy, visible progress and even some loss of strength? Or is that only apparent after you have been overtraining for quite sometime?

I don't think the issue was with cardio, I think the issue was with aerobics. I don't know what you do for martial arts, but I can tell you that boxing's not aerobic - it's HIIT at its toughest.

the other stuff *may* take away from your lifting\size gains...it's taking energy away from those workouts. so it wouldn't be a stretch to say that if you dedicate your day solely to one task you'll get more out of it than if you split into different tasks thru the day. HOWEVER there's nothing to say that you're not going to benifit from, you're just not going to get as much as if that was your pure focus.
