Default Front squats

What's the purpose of front squats? Does it work the body differently than regular squats? Or is it just a variation for folks who have shoulder problems and can't hold the bar behind their neck?

They are more quad intensive than a back squat. For me they also work my core a lot more. Balancing the weight on my shoulders in the front is a lot harder than my back.

I might give them a try. My butt is pretty thick. "Big Bubble" in football speak. Not fat, just round and sticks out. I'd like to work more on the lower thighs without bulking my hips and butt.

The other thing I found is that front squats almost 'force' perfect form b/c if you lean forward at all the bar will start to roll off your shoulders which isn't fun.

Front Squats make you a man.

Anyone can squat....Front squats (and overheads, for that matter) separate the men from the boys, IMO.

I like them a lot....can you tell!:p

You had to bring up overhead squats... Talk about pushing your limits on flexiblity and balance
