Default One-arm Db Press?

I'm on Week 2 of Breakin (Beginner). Ouch!!

I'm confused about the one-arm Db press.

Am I supposed to do this as an alternate press or am I supposed to hold the weight isometrically at my R-Shoulder while I do my L-reps then hold the weight at my L-shoulder while I do my R-reps?

Thanx

I just use one dumbell. I do 15 for one side then 15 for the other.

I agree with CC dad. Just use one dumbbell. I do the superset like this:

Step-up - right leg
DB overhead presses - left arm
Step-up - left leg
DB overhead presses - right arm
repeat

I don't know if this is right, but I feel like it maximizes the effectiveness of the rest periods.

me too. Just 1 DB. That's a move where I can really feel my strength. In using just 1 DB, you use so much of the core in trying to balance. It's one of my faves!!

Huh. I do it this way:
Step-up - right leg
Step-up - left leg
rest
DB overhead press - right arm
DB overhead press - left arm
rest

repeat

I seem to recall the book pointing out that the one-arm/leg exercises, you need to do the repeat on the other side and consider all that one set. But I don't have the book in front of me, so I could be wrong.

I was doing this wrong as well, damn that makes a difference. I took some time to look at the step ups as well, I can really feel them in the quads now. Break in is harder than it looks.

I haven't been hurting near as bad with the step ups as with the static lunges. Clearly I need to crank up the weights.

I didnt up the weight, my grip and forarms burnout before my legs, so I knew there was a form issue. After reading the routine and exercise descriptions again (and closer) I now start the step-ups on the weak side first (for me its the left side), and I complete all 15 reps before moving to the next leg. But I was pushing off the back leg, needless to say I take my time now and just use the selected leg to do everything, and my back leg does nothing, also setting the blocks at knee height adds challenge for me...i start making the fuck faces around rep 11 now.
