Post NROL Breakin combined w/ non-NROL routine

seeking advice-

I've been away from training for 6 mos, so I'm treating myself as a beginner (trained hard for 4 yrs before "the break" - still - I want to be careful (I'm 50)) . I have been getting to the gym 1x/wk during this period, but it has been like treading water - no gains, some loss, but surviving.

My question is: I want to do Alwyn Cosgrove's "No Curl Bicep Program Part 1" once a week while doing the NROL breakin program. Maybe I would not include the Deadlift and pushup which are in both NROL break-in and the NCBP-1, but the others seem different enough that I feel I could do them, or a modified version 1x/wk.

Am I being foolish and should I just stick with the NROL break-in program for a few weeks and forget about NCBP for a while? I was doing the NCBP last fall when I quit training and I really liked it - its tough, but I really liked what it was doing for my back muscles. Then I quit everything, much to my consternation.

btw, here is a link for Alwyn's NCBP-1:

Mixing two programs tends to give you the WORST of both worlds

NROL is a far more complete program. The bicep curl program is a workout - not an entire program. For it to "work" effectively - you'd need to train another twice a week to hit the rest of your body.

NROL is a better approach right now.
