Default new some NROL alternative exercises ...

well, after straining my rotator cuff and taking two weeks off, i'm back starting the break-in phase of NROL. I did phase A today and wonder what i'm going to do about the rotator cuff grinding i feel while doing both the push ups and the dumbell row. it was less pronounced with the push ups, so i think i'm okay there; but i stopped the dumbbell row after just a few. any other exercise i kind try here?

And i wonder if i'm going to have the same type of problem with, in workout B, the 1-arm shoulder press and the close-grip lat pulldown.

sheesh. i can see this r. cuff thing is going to be a pain in the ass.

in a totally unrelated matter, i have various balance issues that won't allow me to safely do the static lunge. what could i substitute here?

thanks!

Linter, sorry, this strays into the realm of medical/rehab advice. You really need to speak to a doctor or physical therapist about these things.

I'd suggest you do it without weight. Once you've mastered the movement to the point that you can do 15 reps with just bodyweight and not lose your balance, then you can move on to added weight.

actually, i may never be able to do it without losing my balance. difficulty is, i have peripheral neuropathy in my feet, meaning i've essentially lost all feeling in my toes and it ain't never coming back, and it's amazing how much toe feeling plays in balance.

that being the case, can anyone here suggest an alternate exercise for at least the lunges (if not the others)?

thanks!

My dad has that, too. He doesn't weight train, though, so he'd be no help in that department. He has been doing some bodyweight/yogaish stuff, though, using a chair for support.

How is your balance if you hold onto something with one hand? I'm thinking you could hold a dumbbell in one hand and the squat rack or chair in the other, just for stability. I'm just throwing it out there. I have no expertise.
