need lots of help with new rules of lifting......help
i really need help with these 4 questions, i know they don't seem like much but they would mean alot to me if you could help me with them,
1. in new rules to lifting they don't mention any supplements ect. im having trouble finding a good supplement stack for myself, im 20 years old i eat as healthy as possible 24/7 (40%carbs/30%protein-30% fat) and weight train 3-4 times a week and do extra arobic work when im feeling up to it (which is usally all the time when you have an active girlfriend and a dog and karate ) , im trying to become the next jack lalane basically , live long and healthy as possible with some nice muscle to show off. im trying to find a healthy supplement stack , i can't find any with up front formal guide in doing this, most resources i find neglect one or the other or leave out important factors on supplement choice.i don't wanna go over board with buying supplements(100-130 a month would seem top price) but i would like to know what is the best possible supplements for health for someone trying to get as healthy as possible in all aspects of his body. so far i came up with these catagories, it needs alot of work
overall: high potencey multi-vit from gnc / green tea pills
digestive : metamucil ( is this alright to take in the long run )
heart/veins ect.(im big with heart and circultory supplements) : coQ10 90mg / 1500mg galic / 81mg asprin / 9 grams of fish oil
liver : antioxidant complex of some sort ( need help picking one out)
bones : calcium/mag/zinc supplement
joints : glucosimine and msm
sexual function : im lost here , there is so much to choose from, just wanna be on top of my game 24-7
whey protein in general - 100% whey i figured
i guess you can call this my rough draft to choosening my health career supplements. i wanted to see what you would put down as your stack in this situation, what advice you can give me, if you know of any sites or articles on this site that cover all this. so many health claims from herbs/vitamins i don't even know where to start.
2. in new rules to lifting im having a little trouble finding which catagorie i would fit into with the years worth of exercise programs (i was thinking the 35 year old guy ect.)
im 20 years old, igot to school full time , i take karate , i want to be as fit as possible , im 190lbs about 13-14%% bodyfat(visable abs). also what is your take on reusing the same program cycle schudle for a few years perhaps? if not how would you change it around to fit a cosgrove style program (ex: change exercises?,reps?,sets?rest?)
3. after new rules of lifting i am total hooked to the reading and point of view . it opened a whole new door way for me , after you complete a cycle where do i go from there? i just don't want to finish the years worth of programs , digest all that knowledge then start guess on my own on where to go next. i reall think alwyn and lou should make a continued workouts for new rules to lifing , i be the first to buy. hey it was worth a shot
4. in new rules to lifting , i might have read over this but are we suppose to train to failure on everyset?
i really need everyones input, this would mean alot to me , i would do the same for everyone if i could......
God bless

1. If you're eating well, supplements aren't that important. Take a multivitamin and some fish oil caps. If you are having issues in specific areas (digestion, sexual function, etc.) look into supps for those specific problems (probably be a good idea to see a doctor, first). Don't try to fix things that aren't broken.
2. Try to decide which two categories are closest to you. Build your plan around the similarities between those two, then make choices on the differences based on what best fits your goals.
3. You can repeat phases. Just make sure you're improving every workout. I believe the book says to make sure you wait at least twelve weeks before repeating a particular phase, so after the first year (or sooner), you can tailor the modules to fit your specific goals.
4. Yes . . . or as close as you can get in the prescribed number of reps.

Health Freak, I already answered all these questions for you via email. Now you're soliciting second opinions on my own damned forum?
I mean, I encourage everyone to seek out as much information as possible, but when I've taken time out of my day to address your issues, I think it's simple courtesy to pretend to be following my advice.
If you didn't like my answers, I'm sure guys on other forums would be happy to tell you whatever you wanted to hear.
And maybe they'd be right.
But on a forum called The New Rules of Lifting, I'd think the opinion of the author of The New Rules of Lifting should get some deference.

no i hear you lou , my brother opt. me to put it on the fourm basically the same day i sent you the e-mail , im good as all my questions are answered , i even grabed alywn's seminar dvd and cosgrove training system cd's as well as your testostrone plan to help me more in dept with my nutrition, Do you know anything about his program design maunuel bible?, you can't always ask for what you want , you gotta man up and find it. you and alwyn are the only reads and people i will ever listen to the rest on my life with training and nutrition after ready new rules of lifting. im starting the program in 2 days ( 8 week lay off from hernia surgey ) that is why i have been a little annoying with these simple questions because i want to make sure im doing new rules to lifting to the fullest. again i apoligize lou. i will start a journal with pics , stats ect. that way if i have any other questions along the way the help is there , plus i can't wait to show off my body this summer doing it the right way , the new way.
also , thank you lou for making that book , you eased my training stress from a 100 to a 0. i use to buy the lastest supplements, opt for the lasted flex issue ect. as well as coming close to juicing at the age of 19. if it wasn't for that book i don't know where or what i would be buying today.
