Speaking of swimming...
I haven't done it for several years but just started back last week. Man, it felt great just like I remembered. I used to swim like an hour straight but it was like jogging... too much just plodding along. I'm taking a new approach to it this time. I'm just making it more varied just to make it more fun. I even did laps underwater with fins to work on my lung capacity and my finning... this comes in handy for free diving later!
In any case, I don't have a Masters club where I am and I'm not driving 40 miles to show up for a 6:00 am workout so I guess I'll just be doing this by myself. Still, I look forward to it.
Who else swims??? This is my first time venturing into this area so I apologize if swimming has been discussed a lot before and I just missed it.

Hey Q, Great new avatar. I've seen the poster before and thought it was way cool, dude's like in his 70's.
I'll see if I can find you some masters swim routines on line. My Dad is a nationally ranked masters swimmer and he only competes with a team but practices alone. I'll get you a hook up.
Joe

Here is a better photo of Q's avatar. I was wrong, this guy was 67 when it was taken.

Q - I can talk swimming until the cows come home. Any time you want to ask questions or anything else on the sport lets get some talk going.

I've missed this E. What school did you go to and howdid that swimming career go? I grew up swimming and gave it up for music to the dismay of my All-American dad. My sister went to Alabama on scholarship. I swam in masters for a few years until I just could force myself to get up at 5:00 three days a week.

That's an awesome story E. Bummer about your rotator cuff though! You should get back at it! I think a sprint triathlon would do you well. If biking is your weak point, that's pretty easy to fix - being that most people either dread the swim or the run. You're 2/3 of the way there already.
Thanks for sharing your story, I didn't realize how much of a swimmer you were either.
Think the Leafs will get Lindros?

Yeah, E! You are a shoe-in for triathlons. Get thee on a bike!

I just own a cheap mountain bike..I've already had two stolen in DC and am now just tooling around on a gary fisher 300 dollar bike. It looks like any decent road bike and I have to shell out a grand!
I've heard the thing about triathlons is that you can lose more time during the bike than just about any other leg, since the good cyclists really drop the hammer on guys like me...
Do you guys find doing brick sets (if that is the right terminology) too time consuming during a busy week?

I do regular training during the week (run, short bike rides, sometimes swim) on weekends I do bricks. Great way to kill a Sunday morning.

Yeah, I usually do most of my short training during the week, and my bricks/long rides etc on the weekends. Just like anything else, just gotta make time...
