Multi-Sport Action on TV
Who needs to watch football when you can watch multi-sport events on TV? While it might be more fun to get outside and train for your upcoming races, three shows highlighting big events from 2004 are coming to a TV screen near you. If the shows aren't picked up by your local network affiliates, find a friend with a satellite dish of head over to your friendly, neighborhood sports bar.
Here's a schedule of what's on tap, but be sure to check your local listings in the case of schedule changes.
January 23, Subaru Primal Quest, 4 to 6 p.m. ET, CBS
How will the CBS broadcast of SPQ 2004 cover the race and unfortunate tragedy? You'll have to tune in to find out. But with former Eco-Challenge executive producer Angus Yates on board for last fall's race in Washington, it's bound to be a dramatic affair. Check out
www.subaruprimalquest.com for information about the 2005 race.
February 5, Jeep World of Adventure Sports, 3:30-4:30 p.m. ET, NBC
The next installment of Jeep World of Adventure Sports won't show any more highlights from the 2004 Raid World Championship that took place in the Patagonia region of Argentina. (The previous show on December 19 highlighted the up-and-down year of Team Montrail, winners of the 2003 Raid Gauloises, and included about 90 seconds of Team Nike ACG/Balance Bar's '04 victory.) But the show will feature the 2004 Red Bull Divide & Conquer multi-sport relay that took place in Durango, Colorado, last June. Additional Jeep World of Adventure Sports episodes are scheduled to air on February 20, April 24, August 6, August 27, October 1, December 17 and December 24. Visit

February 6, Nissan Xterra World Championship, 1-2 p.m. ET, CBS
Tune in to see the Jamie vs. Melanie saga (some would call it just short of a cat fight) reach new heights. Last year, Melanie McQuaid won it all, but this time around Jamie Whitmore caps another dominant season with her first world title. Will CBS continue the "she said/she said" dialogue from a year ago? We hope so. Oh yeah, there is an exciting men's race, too. Visit
