I'm starting this thread to keep a log of my weekly workouts as I prepare for the Ozark Challenge in April. I will just put up distances for each week going Sunday through Saturday. This is in no way a prescribed workout plan just a way for me to keep up with my training and get input as people see fit.

Swimming - 2500 yards

Damn ODB... It is way too friggin' cold to be riding.
Have you been doing our modified "Roland Loop" combined ride recently? If I had time to train right now, that seems like the best use of training time. Wasn't it about 10 miles of road to warm up, 8 miles of tough single track on the Oachita Trail, and then 2 more miles of road?
That's a perfect spot to launch some brick training from too since you can do it all from there. I swear, once my situation changes, I will start training with you again. I miss it so bad. I've gotten soft! I won't be able to be my normal annoying competitive self for at least the first month of training.
You know, I seem to remember some sweet stationary bikes at this place called JP Fitness. I know the owner and I bet he could set up a good training program. I think they have spinning classes also.

Hey JP, it's always a good time for inline skating! (it's the one and only thing I can beat Joe at) We've been going to Arkansas Skatium on Tuesday nights, it's $5 to skate either ice or roller from 7-8:30...wrap up Ethan and Sophie and come skate with us sometime! McKenna can help wrangle kiddos.
If you watched Primal Quest you would know that a couple of teams took advantage of in-line skates when doing a kayak portage (oh yeah, those teams tied for the win). Be prepared for anything! This is adventure racing!

Just bustin' yer chops Joe! I actually love in-line and ice skating. Used to play hockey when I lived in Colorado (not on a team). Before having the brood, Erika and I used to skate several times a week. I did jumps and stunts and everything. I need to get a new brake for my skates, and it wouldn't hurt to get some more wrist pads and knee pads. I'm a little out of practice. If I just go for a fitness skate I don't worry about it, but if I want to have a little fun on them I have to be responsible, since I'm an aged man now... Don't heal like I used to!
ODBSGIRL, I would LOVE to meet you guys for some iceskating. Do you really think McKenna could keep up with all three of the kids while we all skate? Let's possibly do it this weekend (have to run this across my social coordinator/wife first).
I know she'd want to skate too so if we strapped blades onto Ethan and Sophie and took turns sitting out with the baby, Mc would be able to help keep up with Ethan and Sophie on and off the ice, or we could go roller skating. I know they have Saturday sessions from 1-4 and then again in the evening but I'm not sure about Sunday. If you wanted to do it this weekend David or Lauren might be able to go and lend a hand as well. Look into it and give us a ring.

They do make some special "mountain blades"... You should check into those Joe. Personally at 36 I don't recover like I used to from falls. Mountain biking is dangerous enough without adding careening down a mountain like Pinnacle with some heavy duty shock absorbing roller blades.
My current training consists of nothing! Still recovering from that accident, so I am turning into a soft, weak pustule. I hope to at least be able to resume running the stairs again this week. I really need to get out and ride!
As you can see by the direction of this thread, my training has been off the past couple of weeks. I am attributing this to my team kind of fell apart. No ones fault, just a change in goals. I'm looking at another team or possibly doing the short course as a solo.
As for the rollerblading thing. Most of the races use rollerblading on road or paved trail. I've seen dirt trail rollerblades but that's not for me either.
