Multi-Sport Racing Triathalons and Adventure Racing have been sweeping the nation at a phenomenal rate. Multi-Sport Racing is one of the few sports where just completing a race is often considered a victory. Learn all about this sport, post photos, meet potential teammates or brag about your performance in a race.

I can't believe they cancelled one of the best races in the region. They say it is due to funding problems. I'm pissed!!! My wife and Sarah were going to do it with me.

Hey JP, have you heard anything about it?

No! I hadn't heard this. I am going to call them tomorrow and find out what the deal is. That is a REAL bummer!

Lisa is doing the adventure racing 101 class today and is going to try and get the scoop from Greg Eason.

That really sucks. I had finally started riding again too. Beat myself up at Allsop last Thursday.

Lisa is really bummed and wants me to find her another race. This was going to be her first 12 hour race. Hey JP, did you ever read my race report from the Sylamore?

Thumbs up

Many of you may have heard that Little Rock's Raid the Rock Adventure Race was cancelled due to a lack of funding. Well here is some GOOD NEW! I just got this e-mail from Nathan Siria (below). They should have a new web site up soon www.travelerracing.com. We should know something about the status this week. I would like to take a moment and thank Team Traveler and Geneva Hampton for working to make this happen. I will let you know if I hear more.

For information about other local Adventure Races check out www.goplayoutside.net. We have a calendar which I am always updating, a message board for finding teammates, training partners and help. There are also some good links to adventure racing resources. Good luck on your races.

Joe,

Thanks for the support. Geneva forwarded your e-mail to me. Team Traveler (Greg, Hap and I; and Geneva volunteer-behind the scenes) are
going to still have the race. The city is not going to be a part of the race, but we are pulling our money together to make this thing happen. We need a couple more days to get our website up and running (TravelerRacing.com). There will be some contact information on the
raidtherock.com website on how you can contact us or sign up or you can e-mail me.

Thanks again.. The race is on!!!!!

You can help us by passing the word on to other racers.

Nathan Siria

That's awesome Joe! Don't know yet if I can do it. Can't train the way I need to now with business demands like they are. I have tried to do some training in the last few weeks and got my butt kicked on the trails. I am OUT of SHAPE!

This is what you posted on the Raid the Rock web site on 8/05/04:

I am stoked about the race this year. I may not be able to do it though... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things will work out for me to participate. I hate to skip a year. This is my very favorite race. Great site this year guys! Love the new look.
Yes, message boards can come back to haunt you. Now get on the bike and ride. You have a light, the kids are in bed by 9 pm. Head for Allsop and the river. An hour of hill repeats never hurt anyone.
