Sarah and I leave tomorrow for the Sylamore Hardcore adventure race. We practiced canoeing with kayak paddles last weekend and did some night mountain biking last night. We had to try out my new tow system (not that we'll need it).

The race is in Northern Arkansas (the Ozarks) and covers over 100 miles by canoe, mountain bike, trekking and orienteering. We should run into a small climbing part and since they said swim fins are optional I figure we will find ourselves swimming some. The race should take us between 24 and 36 hours.

Wish us luck!

Awesome, that sounds like great fun. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

WE DID IT!!!!

Sarah, Mark and I took 4th place in the Sylamore Hardcore adventure race. 28 and a half hours after the start we walked across the finish line. We dropped the last 3 checkpoints to finish with in the 30 hour time limit but the race was hard enough that it was good enough for 4th place. I will be posting a full race report within a week on my site (I have to go out of town on business this week.)

I want to thank Sarah and Mark who were great. Sarah finished on bloody feet from blisters! She is one tough chick . I was trying to talk her into quitting when Mark made us start walking and we picked up 4 more checkpoints. Great teamwork out there. I also want to thank my wife Lisa and Sarah's Husband Aaron. They were up and ready with hot food, fresh water, clean dry clothes and a gentle push at every transition area.

Joe

Cool! Great job. Looking forward to that race report. You are really going to be ready for the Raid this year, from the sound of it.

Awesome Joe! I'll say it again - I can't think of moving for 36 straight hours....incredible.
