I haven't heard any race reports yet. Lisa says I was a basket case all weekend thinking about everybody playing outside.

We were 5th until the night bike section. Our navigation fell through, and we ended the race, as the last official team, in a little under 36 hours at 13. We missed two checkpoints. It's a humbling sport when you can go from racing for top five to racing to finish. 20 teams dropped or were removed from the course.

Yeah, I've often thought that night, bike navigation was the key to this race. I've got to figure out a way to train for it. Was your problem actually finding checkpoints or riding at night?

Oh, it was definitly finding the checkpoints. Some of the night stuff was on gravel, and there were fire roads thrown in for good fun. My navigator began second guessing himself, and that's what cost us the most time and continued throughout the race. This was not a good navigational race for us, from the beginning. The very first cp cost us 30 minutes. Still, though, we were in the top 10, until a major navigational mistake in the middle of the night bike. Then, we just wanted to finish.

Sarah, when you finish typing out your story for the Ozark, don't forget to post it in here. Start a new thread for it... I will be doing the same when I catch up at work tomorrow.
