Hit peak tearing down phase for the Ozark Challenge last week, as per coach, this is supposed to tap me out send me into depletion. Force me to tap into endurance mode without gels, make me earn it. Only 1.5 weeks 'til taper.
Focus: Hills, Hills, Hills.

Tuesday: Weight room, Overlook x 18 (hill training on bike), 5 mile run

Yesterday: Weight room, 2 hour trail run with pack, 2 hour bike ride

Today: 2.5 hour trail run with 15 x hill repeats
Planned 3 hour spin to get accustomed to being "uncomfortable" in one place for long periods of time

Tomorrow: Long paddle, total body weights, run

Saturday: Riding last years bike leg with hike and climb. Meeting teammates in Conway @ 5 a.m.

Sunday: long run

Monday: rest and stretch
I am so hungry!!!! Got back from run today and scarfed down large chicken caesar salad, salsa baked potato, and side of fruit!

How's everyone else's training? Are you guys starving, too?

Sounds like you're going to be well prepared for this race. I wish I was doing it. I don't think JP has even signed up yet.

Do you have a workout that you have been using during the last couple of months or are you playing it by ear?

I focused mainly on endurance and hills until 6 weeks-month before the race. Lot's of Overlook, Wye mountain, running, and time in the weight room. Of course, NGAR woke our team up, and we wanted to be prepared. We've done 3 24 hour trainings, several day training sessions. Now though, If there's a hill, I'm running or riding it. I guess, I've been playing it by ear mostly, though. I have dead legs, and tapping into the endurance energy. My plan: make it harder now, recover through taper, and then I'll have lots of good stuff in the bank.

My favorite bike loop right now- overlook x 10, 430 bridge, overlook x5, 430 bridge, Overlook x 5 Repeat as necessary. Switch shoes and sprint 1-2 miles.
