Hey guys,
When are you guys going to start the winter training thing? Specifically, building the cycling base miles.
I'm still jonesing to get on my bikes, but I'm also prepping my winter routine, so that I'll be in decent shape next season.
However, paddling season is fast approaching us here in Arkansas (which means that I'll be on the water at least two days a week...I was out 3 per week until June.) Plus, I have a 1/2 marathon in February and a full Marathon in May.
I also have the 100 mile Ozark Challenge that I need to continue, or restart, training for (My optimal goal race...reason for the others.) It was in April this year, so I'm estimating about the same time in '04.
My plan is to strength train at least 2xper week, and brick train as much as possible. It should be pretty easy, since most of my training will take place on and around The Piney with my team: Cycle in to meet boats, paddle the creek, Portage boats, etc.
We're in the process of setting a schedule to train together at least once per week; not including the ropes work that we'll be starting soon. As the female, I'm terribly afraid of being ill-prepared, but they're trememdously supportive.
My running schedule has been a little more difficult to develop. I can definitely do the 1/2, and I'm pretty sure that I can do a full marathon. However, it would be an iffy squeeze between tapers and recovery from the Ozark. Any thoughts or suggestions?
