Multi-Sport RacingTriathalons and Adventure Racing have been sweeping the nation at a phenomenal rate. Multi-Sport Racing is one of the few sports where just completing a race is often considered a victory. Learn all about this sport, post photos, meet potential teammates or brag about your performance in a race.
Finally, all of you regular posters in here get to see what Sarah looks like! I must say that this is how I am used to seeing her, but when she spruces up to out on the town... Yow! She cleans up real nice! Luckily she prefers to have mud spatters and bruises everywhere, inadvertantley creating even MORE mystique over our resident tomb-boy!
Sarah and I competed together... Here are the pics!
Sarah and I before the race, as indicated by the smiles and lack of sweat and mud.
Sarah does some last minute maintenance on her mountain bike before the race.
Race is about to start.
Sarah and I enter the transition area after the running leg. (Racers must always hold hands entering the TA together, and at the finish).
Coming out of the water, ready for the last challenge.
Entering finish line, after having taken quite a spill looking back over my shoudler while turning into TA.
Crossing the final finish line! TOO SHORT!!! Gimme another 20 miles please!
No race is ever wasted. You learn your weekspots in every race. I gleaned some important factsthat will help put Team JP Fitness into the top 10 at the Raid!
I heard that the course was goign to be the most intense orienteering course they have done yet!

Who's Sarah BTW?
Sarah is the girl that everyone in here wants to see photos of... She is our resident hardcore tomb-boy. She may not have been as fast as me, but she refused to quit, which is a MUST when doing these races!
You missed on in Texas, but there are a couple of races in Texas that I know of sanctioned by USARA. Just go to www.usara.com and look for their events.
I need more competition experience. If anyone is interested, I'm looking for a teammate. Of course JP gets first call, but there are 2-3 person teams. Joe, Ryan, Josh-help a sista out. I'll cover registration fees.

This year promises to be another great challenge as your 2 or 3 member teams race through historic Fort Chaffee. This 8-hour adventure race, with a military flare will include running, mountain biking, land navigation, water challenges, and leadership reaction course and mystery events. Awards and
food will follow the race. Registration will be $75.00 per team member. Please call (479) 441-5075 for additional information.
That's three days before my birthday. If we won, that'd be an awesome birthday present.
I'd LOVE to. But seriously, and 8 hour race...hmmmmm. I'm not sure I'm in any kind of shape for that right now. I'll go run today or tomorrow and see where I'm at for about a 3 mile run. If I get it under 19 or so, I'll say I've still got a chance for gettin' in shape, and I'll do it. Sound like a deal?
Also, It's been like 6-7 years since I've kayaked (sp?), so I'll need a refresher course in that.
Did I just get booted from the team?

Ok, I'll do it. But I have to warn you that I've been bulking for so long that I haven't done much cardio in about 6 months; except for riding. Ask JP how slow I am on the bike. The last time we rode he wasn't even breathing hard, and I was about to lay down and die. I'll get my run in tomorrow, and let you know how it went. I'd do it today but I donated blood yesterday and haven't felt good at all.
Do I have to wear the funny spandex shorts?

No, you do not have to wear the funny shorts. I'm fairly slow right now, too. I'm not dying to place; I just need more competition experience. It's all about the clowning and fun. If we're slow, we're slow. It's better than sitting on the couch eating cheetos and watching bad television.

good question...ummm; uh huh, yeah. I ride 4 days, lift three, run two. Usually I'll run and ride together (brick.) Nothing too structured though. Just make it fun. You'll be fine; you're in excellent shape.
We'll be fine. My key goals for this race are as follows:
1. become more comfortable in a competition environment
2. get a little orienteering practice
3. Get a test of my fitness level/endurance in longer event.
4. realize that it'll all be over in 8 hours, so I need to have fun and trust my training.
I've trained physically to do well. We'll be fine. So much can happen in 8 hours.
Ok, so I ran this morning. I must be sick or something. I yaked at mile 1.5. I've only done that once in my life during exercise, and never during any kind of cardio. I did my two miles in a little over 14:30, and that included the yaking time. First mile was right around 6:45. I guess that only means one thing...I need to go run. A lot.
