JP - There is a really tough mountain bike trail out towards lake Sylvia. It's near Wildcat mountain. I did it a couple of years ago. It's pretty rugged and would be a good test for that new bike of yours. We could do it Saturday morning. - Joe

Sounds great. I will be back in town by Friday night. Hope you don't mind an extra body with us. A friend of mine will be coming up to buy a mountain bike from another of my friends, and he will want to take it out for a real test spin! What time do we need to take off?
The earlier the better. It's going to be hot, wet and sticky . We should bring bug spray or something. I remember one part that goes through some dense woods that has to be walked and it could get very buggy! There is also a part in the open along some power lines where sunscreen is recommended. Plenty of water is not optional. Tell me how early you want to go, it'll take about 30-45 minutes to get there.

Hm... Is is possible to do it on Sunday morning to allow me some time to recover from my trip? I don't get in till late Friday night. Plus, my friend who wants to come with us needs to get his bike from Sarah.
Bummer, I've got other plans on Sunday. How early would you be able to go on Saturday. (Now don't be tryin' to get outta this training, I'm watching you)

Hey Joe,
What time today? That would probably be fine. I just need to get Ryan his bike today. Call me on my cell and lets set a time. It may have to be in the afternoon, during Sophie's nap would be preferable.
Hate to tell you but I won't have time this afternoon. I'm in the middle of replacing the stereo in my truck (dash all pulled out, lots of four-letter words, you know) and I'm going out with Lisa this evening and I'll need time to primp . Sorry, maybe we can get together on a ride this week.

Yeah, today was workout with Lisa day. We did pinnacle (up, over and around) and then did a short bike ride. maybe we can work out something next week at Wildcat Mountain.

Joe,
I did a short bike ride today too... about 5 miles (don't laugh--at least I got out for a little while). It was an intense 5 though... Some tougher than intermediate trails (can't really call them advanced though). Other than that I played at the playground HARD with the kids today. I plan to get my mileage back up this week. A couple of 20-25 milers and a brick this weekend (hopefully with you). Talk to you soon.
I really want to... I still need to get the yard pass from my better half. She seemed nonplussed with my plans. If that doesn't work, can we do some more combined training on Sat? I haven't been in a canoe all season. Maybe I can get Josh to join us for a brick which will include some time on the water. Let me know. I will work on getting clearance for Friday.
Don't push to hard for a favor. My knee is acting up since running down pinnacle the other day without my brace on (and dropping about 15 extra pounds I need to lose on it). So I should probably take some recover time.
I have an idea for a full out race length workout.
1. Leave the car with the bikes at the far end of Lake Maumelle.
2. Canoe from there all the way down the lake to the spillway and portage around that back into the little maumelle river and then canoe down to the put in at the state park headquarters.
3. Leave the canoe and hike up over and around Pinnacle then hit the Ouachita trail all the way back around the lake (this is a long hike) back to the truck.
4. Get on the bikes and ride all the way back to your house. Then you give me a ride back to my truck so I can get the canoe.
All of this would start after work on a Friday and go all night. I have no idea how long this will take but it should be most of the night.
I'm going to order kayak paddles this weekend so I should have them by next weekend.
What do you think?

Ooooohhhh... I LIKE IT! I am planning a long ride on Saturday morning. Why don't we all just do the Roland loop and plan the big trip for next Friday? That sounds awesome! I will get Josh to do it with us. Maybe Holly or Heather too.
If Ryan and Sarah want to come too we should pack up a couple of canoes. Is this possible? We would have me, you, Josh, Holly, Heather, Sarah, and Ryan. Hm. Maybe not enough canoes.
Sounds good to me but I only have two canoes and four paddles right now. We could max out at 3 per canoe. Remember we will set this up like a real race without support and the only stocked transition will be back at the truck after the hike. If I have the kayak paddles in time I would like to be able to carry them during the entire race just for training. I'll be working out some more logistics.
Any chance you can do lunch today and we can talk about it?

You are already signed up Joe! You silly man! Warren has been paying for you to come up for the last month and this month. The tour will cost you 50 cents (inflation you know). How 'bout around noon?
