My training is starting to move more toward bricking; primarily bricking cycling and running/hiking, including packs. Questions:
1.How rapidly should I increase my "bricked" mileage? Traditionally, in my marathon training, anyway, the rule of thumb was not to increase by more than 10% each week. Does this rule of thumb still apply? I have been working two a days, and I have started to taper those off. I plan for one "bricked" day per week.
2.Do I need to start with a reduction in my running and cycling mileage initially? Example: instead of running 5 miles in the morning and cycling 20 in the evening, should I run 8 miles followed by 10 miles to begin with the bricking, or should the mileage be reduced even farther?
3.Do my jaunts to Pinnacle (road ride + running/ hiking) count as "bricking?"
4.Additionally, how do I balance the endurance training needed for the Ozark and Raid with the speed training needed for the Sprint(s) that I plan to do this year? I know that the disciplines and principles: speed vs endurance cross over into each length, but much more speed is needed in sprint races and much more endurance is needed to cover 55+ miles.
5. Do the play trips to Shinall to boulder or to the Buffalo River or Spring River to paddle count as "workouts" or training, even if their intensity is laid back and chilled? At what point is something considered exercise? What about the 6 hours I spent dancing at the club the other night?
