Multi-Sport Racing Triathalons and Adventure Racing have been sweeping the nation at a phenomenal rate. Multi-Sport Racing is one of the few sports where just completing a race is often considered a victory. Learn all about this sport, post photos, meet potential teammates or brag about your performance in a race.

Since I'm getting ready for a sprint adventure race and Raid, I've decided that I have one month of weight training left, and then I'm going to pull out of the gym to finish my sport specific preparation. JP-since you did Raid last year, does this sound realistic? I fully anticipate getting back into weight training after this short race season to prepare for the Ozark Challenge and MTB race season next year. Or,in your opinion, should I remain in the weight room? I've heard different opinions on this topic.

Sarah, your strength and muscular endurance and power have all increased in a record month you you think it isn't working? Sarah, Sarah, Sarah! What are you thinking? You are on a roll. Keep this going. We can do our Raid training on the side just fine. You need to do some training for your strength and power for hill climbing. God knows, you don't need to look any better... as if that is possible! Just keep doing your sport-specific training. Josh says you are unbelievable... really admires your athletic prowess and drive. He doesn't say that about all his clients, let alone any women clients. YOu must be doing something right to receive those kinds of accolades! When we get heavy into the season we need to drop our strength to 2 days a week, but not for a while.

Oh, I know it's working....I see gains every day. Just in my training books and plans, I have heard different opinions...some say that in the last 8-12 weeks from competition, I should focus solely on cycling, climbing, running, and paddling. Others say to remain in the gym. No, trust me, I know I'm making progress, that is unquestionable.

You may want to shift to more sport-specific training closer to a competition, rather than a general strength and conditioning program, but I don't think you should give it up. It is what is going to set you apart from the competition.

Right on... a lot of the advice out there on training programs, especially endurance training, is confusing. Everyone has their "formula" for training. I've read everything from "kiss a turtle in the fifth mile of the cycling portion" to "do twelve cartwheels before the running leg of the race." There's so much information out there, but it's all contradictory. That's why I asked you, you're my advice source.
