Multi-Sport RacingTriathalons and Adventure Racing have been sweeping the nation at a phenomenal rate. Multi-Sport Racing is one of the few sports where just completing a race is often considered a victory. So I've been thinking. How do you go from off the bike to running into T2? Do you run with your bike shoes cause I can hardly walk through the house with them on. Or take them off and go bare foot. I can get my feet out of the pedals quickly now (relatively new to clip less pedals) but don't like my chances of quickly de-shoeing while coasting in.
There must be something I'm missing.
I'm currently training for a sprint race end of April.
Good to be stuck back into it.
I don't have an answer, but I was wondering how the clip less pedals have helped you. I've got the toe straps, and I don't think it's really helping. I'm going to do a few Sprint Tri's this year, and I was wondering if I should invest in the shoes and pedals. Do you notice you're going faster or are less tired for the run afterwards?

Haven't raced in them but after a few rides with them I've noticed my average speed in about 5km/h faster without any extra effort. Also make you feel more like a rider. :-)
I usually go barefoot off the bike. Depends on the day, some days I just can't get my feet out (and I'm not really trying to win the damn thing) so I'll just run in my cycling shoes. Most races though, I'll get my feet out and go barefoot. The last 200 yds or so of bike is pretty slow anyway, so that usually is enough time. Practice it first though!!

Also I guess you simply reverse it leaving T1. I have enough trouble getting my shoes on never less getting them on while moving and trying to do up the straps. Guess this is why they say there are 4 disciplines to tri. :-)
It's scary the first few times, but after that it's pretty easy. I've lost a shoe more than once (later to be found at the lost and found tent). Just keep practicing, it'll get easier!
