Default How many races a year do you do?

On average how many races per year do you try to do?

I'm looking at this years racing calendar and there is only 2 or 3 races that look close enough to be realistic.

How many do you do?

As many as I can afford. This year was 'light' for me and I did:

Bolder Boulder Qualifier
Bolder Boulder
Elephant Rock Cycling Festival (Century)
5430 Sprint Triathlon
5430 Long Course Triathlon
Longmont Oktoberfest Triathlon

Next year will be heavier for sure, but I'm also slightly obsessed.

Let's see, this year I did:
  • Tour de Rock (100km bike)
  • Adventure Sprint Adventure Race
  • 40 Acres of Hill Triathlon (Run, Kayak, Bike)
  • Tri the Lake Sprint Tri

This was very light and 3 of the four took place within a month. There would have been another sprint tri but it was canceled due to hurricane. Next year I'm looking at:
  • The full series of 4 Adventure Sprint Races
  • Another century or metric century ride
  • An off road duathlon
  • 2 or 3 sprint triathlons
  • An Xtrerra triathlon
  • And maybe another longer adventure race

Not all races make but that is the plan.

I'm going to do at least 4 in 2009. One Olympic distance and 3 sprints. I may end up doing a few more sprints, though.

The tri club I'm joining has training tri's all around the sprint distance. There is about 8 of them a year and about 3 real races that I'm looking at. Only one being olympic. Have a goal of a half ironman but I want some olympics under my belt first. So that probably won't be done next year. There isn't too many olympics from what I can tell, done around here.

I really want to try the longer ones rather than sprints and shorter sprints.

Do club tri's count?

Last year I did three tris. It was my first year back after an illness. It felt great. I intend to have a thought out plan for the 2009 season.
