Default St. Patrick's Day Triathlon Race Report

For the second straight year, I just completed the St. Patrick's Day Sprint Triathlon. This is the "tune-up" race before my big event in Hawaii (The Lavaman Triathlon)! My wife also competed in her 2nd triathlon today and she is doing the Lavaman with me in 3 weeks!

The official results are in! Format - time (pace/speed)

Drew
Swim: 5:27 (1:40 / 100m)
T1: 1:18
Bike: 35:47 (20.1 mph)
T2: 0:47
Run: 20:18 (6:33 / mile)
TOTAL: 1:03:34 (33rd place overall, 4th place in my age group)

Lauren
Swim: 6:19 (1:56 / 100m)
T1: 1:24
Bike: 40:32 (17.8 mph)
T2: 1:16
Run: 21:20 (6:53 / mile)
TOTAL: 1:10:49 (89th place overall, 1st PLACE IN HER AGE GROUP!!!)

This was a great race for both of us. Countdown to the Hawaii race is officially 3 weeks!

Also, I beat every one of my times from last year's race:

2007 Race
Swim: 6:00 (1:50 / 100m)
T1: 1:22
Bike: 35:54 (20.1 mph)
T2: 2:11
Run: 21:00 (6:47 / mile)
TOTAL: 1:06:25 (39rd place overall, 6th place in my age group)

I will post race pictures once I get them in.

Thanks guys! We are FIRED UP about Lavaman. We leave in less than two weeks. Last year we included Maui in our trip, but this year we will stay on the Big Island the whole time.

Still waiting for the pictures to be posted.

Nice job. This race was my first try at a Tri. I loved it. Great weather. Great course. Loads of fun (along with the pain).

How did you do (relative to your expectations)? Are you planning any more in the DFW area coming up?

I did better than I planned. I beat all my goals except for the swim. I had never swum in a 50-meter pool before and my mind messed me up.

Up next is the Old College Tri. Same distances and a pool swim. Now that I have a baseline to work from, my goals won't be as conservative as they were for St. Patrick's.
