Who's up for this one?
http://www.24hoursoftriathlon.com/index.html
Eric - We puttin' a team together? I better get training!
Race Format: Relay teams and solo athletes complete a 0.5 mile open water swim (no night swimming) – 11.0 mile bike – 3.0 mile run course, repeated for 24 hours. Team competitors do not have to stay in race order. They can do as many or as few legs as they wish and in any order (provided the team as a whole meets the race leg requirements.) It is entirely up to the team who competes and when, so strategy is key!
Repeated as many times as possible in a 24 hour period. Can be done as a team of as many as you want or solo.

I could do like 2 running legs and 2 bike legs. I'd be shot after that!

Yeah but you get a rest, the length of which depends on the speed of your teammate.

Did you see they have a prize for the slowest swim leg. I'M ALL OVER THAT ONE! Who wants to be on my team?
Oh man, what a kick. I may actually be in Colorado Springs the week before, dropping my daughter off at college. Since I have relatives in Colorado and a friend who lives close to the venue, it's possible I could do this. Are you remotely serious ODB?
Eric? John Williams? Who wants to go to Colorado for 24 hours of torture?

OH HELL YES!!! They've been advertising the hell out of this here, and I would love to do it. I'm dead freaking serious about it too. If anyone is interested, I'll create a team. I'm leaving for my honeymoon right at the beginning of September, so I can squeeze this in right before hand.
They also have a prize for the best pit crew. Kegs, eggs, and a bbq? We win!!!
Please please please! We can do teams of 2 - 5. I can get me and another buddy. We need 3 more. I have the lodging set - I work for the Sheraton. All you have to do is get here....

E - are you saying we could have discounted lodging at the Sheraton? I want to say a tentative YES. However, there is the possibility my daughter will choose a different college and I wouldn't be able to make it in that case. We will know by mid-April for sure.
Don't hold back putting together a team on my account. All I ask is that you reserve that 5th spot for me at least until April. I know I'd like to be on your team...course the feeling may not be mutual! I AM a slow swimmer!

Man if I was closer or richer I would be game. Would be a blast!
However it looks like it's teams of 5+ not just up to 5.
Unfortunately I cannot. So PICS! Og.

I was including the rest!
I think it would be awsome if you all could do it. I'm far to slow to allow myself to drag a team down though. =-)

Yeah, OG, but if you have over 5, then it gets really boring because you have a leg like once every 7 hours. So I'd want to keep it to 4 or 5 ish.

Exactly, I'd love to do either a team of 3, or 2 teams of 6, that would be ideal. That way, you basically have one hour on, two off. But at night, it's a different story, since there is no swimming, just running and biking, but that would be a good thing so you don't have as much down time...maybe...

That half mile swim is a lot in contrast to the sprint distance of the bike and run. I guess they are try to make up for not swimming at night. The early lead with go to the teams with strong swimmers. I better get back in the water.

OK guys...were we just shootin' the breeze on this one or are some of you guys really interested? It's definite that I will be in Colorado the last week of August and can arrange to stay until after Labor day.
Eric - I sent you a PM - did you see it? Still thinking about it?
I'm game...can we get a team together?

Hey fin - I did get your PM, just haven't been able to respond yet. I am a tenative yes right now, have to talk to the lady. That will be exactly one week after our wedding, so we have to figure out when we are leaving for our honeymoon. However, with that, I'm sure she'd be cool with leaving a day or 2 later to do this. So I am going to say I'm probably in.
We'd probably want 4 total, maybe 5. And yes, I can work on getting us cheap rooms at a hotel pretty close by. So if it's something we can get a team up for, I can surely handle lodging.

Oh man, if you're willing to mess around with your honeymoon to do this triathlon, you are a bigger man than me!!
Your wedding and honeymoon are a once-in-a-lifetime thing (well, hopefully ). There will always be another triathlon. Just let us know what you decide.

Well, we're going on our honeymoon for a month, so a day isn't going to kill it. Plus, we are staying in town for about a week after the wedding to spend time with family that is coming to town.
