I wish I could say I was surprised by that answer...
But I am not....
We shall see how time and money is at that point in time.

I'm glad my suggestion didn't come across as flippant or off the wall. I'm in a bit of a quandary as well, trying to decide how to run a half-marathon, 25k, and full marathon over 4 weeks, next May.
So I swam the 500m today in 13:08. Not a PR, however I have a couple of observations about it.
I usually hit a wall around 250 or 300 where I feel like I wanna die. I can push through it and finish the set.
I didn't really even feel all that tired until 400m or so. Means I can probably push it a bit. I should be able to shave some time of the 12:41 last year.
Last years time:
1:17:27 27 Keith JOHNSON 33 Calgary 12:41 46:42 18:04

Og, I know nothing about swimming other than the fact that I could drown while doing it, but if you're pulling off a 13:08 in training I see no reason why you wouldn't blow 12:41 out of the water next time! (Pun intended)

Well the most amazing part of the 12:41 for me is that it includes the time to walk from the timing point across the width of the pool, swim the 500m, get out of the pool, walk double the width of the pool and across the next timing point, makes the actual swim time a blazing 12 or so minutes (Blazing for me, slow for eMartin!)
I am better not either way though, I was before still swimming 25s, which now seem incredibly short.

We wear a timing chip on our ankle, ala this pic. (I am 27)
Close up of one....
They have various timing mats set up.
When you cross a mat the computer starts the time, marks the time, or stops the time.
I believe we had a starting map by the pool. A pool to bike transition one, one coming back off the bike and one for the run. I believe my bike time includes both T1 and T2, but I can't remeber for sure anymore.

OG - that's a great 500m. I think it's probably due to some recovery time. It's always amazing to me the first few workouts after some down time, I feel like I could conquer the world. Keep swimming my friend, you're doing great!
