The main goal for this triathlon was to beat my times from my last triathlon about a month ago...Mission Accomplished!
Here are the results:
Swim (500 yards): 14:45
T1: 2:05
Bike (17.6 miles): 52:10
T2: 1:24
Run (5 km): 21:59 GRAND TOTAL: 1:32:23
The swim was a little shorter than my last tri, but there were a lot more people this time, which means a lot more kicks to the face. That, combined with the fact that I suck at swimming, resulted in a slightly slower swim. Kinda disappointed in that, but oh well.
The bike was hilly. Last time it was mainly flat and I averaged 19.97 mph. This time, despite the hills, I averaged 20.24 mph on a tougher course! I'm pumped about that.
The run was about the same as last time...a couple small hills here and there, but mainly flat. I took 11 seconds off of my mile pace! I'm pumped about this too!
My transitions were smoother too, so that saved some time as well.
Nicely done Drew! Those times and averages are much better than last time. That's all you can hope for, improvement. Keep up the work in the water and you'll be killing everyone. What were the distances on this one? Regardless, Great job!

Looks to me like he just put the shorts on over the top, the first run picture has a hint of blue at the waist line.
So based on that assumption, why did you throw on the shorts instead of just running in your tri shorts?
Oh and of course congrats on the time!

If we can't create the occasional distraction...what's the point?!

Looks good man. Nice and lean!!! How much do you train Drew? What's your diet like? I have to ask everyone, just to see if I can pick up any tips.

Hey E...thanks man! Here are the answers to your questions:
I train everyday, but I definitely mix it up so as to avoid overtraining. I constantly "listen to my body", and if I detect that I'm not recovering as quickly as I normally would or whatever I will absolutely take a day off (or maybe 2).
Here is a typical breakdown:
Sunday: Jump rope warmup with lots of dynamic stretching and core work followed by a long swim (for me, that's about 15-20 minutes).
Monday: Weights in the AM (Upper body vertical push/pull), running in the evening with the wife (usually 4-5 miles)
Tuesday: Biking in the AM (two trips around the lake, which is 20+ miles), weights in the PM (Lower body Quad dom)
Wednesday: running in the evening with the wife
Thursday: Biking in the AM (same as above), weights in the PM (Upper body horizontal push/pull)
Friday: Weights in the AM (Lower body Hip dom), running in the evening with the wife
Saturday: Same as Sunday
As for my diet, I try to eat very clean. I continue to add more veggies to my diet (my parents are just blown away by this!). Not sure I would call this a problem, but my only "problem" is that I eat a lot of carbs (usually whole grains, oats, etc.) outside of the Post-Workout window. I tend to think that I am very carb-tolerant, so this hopefully isn't a big deal. My wife is to thank for my clean eating.
Seriously though, wow man thats quite the schedule, keep kicking ass.
Og.

Drew - do you ever find yourself getting tired or lethargic? I know that if I don't have at least one off day per week, I'm completely shot. It doesn't help that I'm a bellman for my job, so constantly running, pulling heavy carts full of luggage, and sprinting stairs is my "rest". I think I'm burning the candle at both ends
I've lost about 7 lbs though

Yeah that happens to me every once in a while. I'm not afraid to take a day off even if I'm not feeling so tired, just to make sure that my body is properly rested.
You defintely have an "active recovery" period! I sit at a desk all day.
Congrats on dropping the 7 lbs! Does that put you at 8%, which gives you cutness?
LOL - it's 7 lbs that I didn't want to drop. I'm trying to keep it on, I'm getting too skinny. I'm eating like a freaking madman - it just doesn't help. I even dab into unclean land about every other day for a big meal (like not 97% lean ground beef burgers) and it still isn't helping. I'm withering away!
