Default The Morning After...

...the Summit!

I'm getting some activities put together for Sunday the 9th for those staying for the weekend. I've got an outdoor multi-sport kind of day planned.

1. Around 8:00 am (I know it's early but JP Fitness people are tough) we go for a hike/run up, over and around Pinnacle mountain. This is at whatever speed you are comfortable with. About 3.5 miles total with a half mile section of 700 vertical feet. (It is the steepest trail in the state). It's a loop trail so we wind up back at the cars. Beautiful views and you might even see an eagle.

2. Once we have collected everyone from the mountain we will take about an hour drive to Hot Springs, Arkansas for an afternoon of mountain biking at Cedar Glades Park. A great riding area for cyclists of all skills. It all comes back to one parking lot so it is easy to keep up with everyone. They have a total of about 13 miles of well made trail. (I know the designer)

3. For dinner we may stop at Rod's Pizza Cellar for some great pie and local hospitality.

the only cost involved right now is for dinner. We are working on lunch and I'll get back with you on that. We need to know a couple of things.

1. How many people want to do the whole thing?
2. How many need to just do the hike/run so they can catch a flight later in the day?
3. Who needs a bike? (I have a few and I'll see about putting my hands on some more if we need them. If you need one let me know your height and we will get it as close as possible.

You can respond here or send me an e-mail at joe@extremetrek.com.

Welcome to the Natural State!

Bmph8ter, the puppy, and I will do the Pinnacle thing-
I think the plans for mountain biking are still in the works, but it may involve Camp Robinson....

I'm with Sarah on whatever she decides to torture me with on biking. I believe she has 'alternate' plans. ODB, you two should try to talk....I'm just along for the ride (pun intended).

Oh, and thanks!

Hmmm, we have talked. The issue at stake right now is whether or not to make it a ride in hot springs where people can stop and enjoy the park or do more than one loop etc....OR stay in LR and ride at a place that everyone will either A) have to buy memberships or B) figure out a way to snake em for a day because it's a members only trail. I believe you, Silly and the Bmp-man are headed to the CARP trails at Camp Robinson for the day, we just can't figure out how to get everyone a card so they can ride too. Make sense? I believe it's all being worked on/thought out.

I think the "official" thing is a trip to Cedar Glades. Kaiser, if you want to go, then its okay. I just thought we would hunt out some other riding, that's all.

Well you're going to be a couple of weeks early for Turkey season. Sorry you'll miss that.

You can hunt turkeys? Isn't that sorta like hunting cows?

I'm not talking about the Texas style of Turkey Hunting (A few drinks of wild turkey and then try not to shoot your friends face of).

I don't do this but I understand it is basically siting for hours in full camo making occasional calls and waiting for the wild turkey to get close enough to plug that baby.

Maybe we can all "plug" a bottle of wild turkey after the ride? Of course doing it before would make riding interesting too..

Joe, I'm getting out a little more often on the bike in hopes of keeping up with you for at least the first hill.

As for Kaiser and Silly hopefully I'll see you somewhere along the trail.
