I'm not sure where this goes, but I'm putting it here. (In Off Topic is would get swamped).
Six weeks ago in South Carolina, I heard on the local NPR station an interview with a guy who had just started a company called Bamboosa that makes fabric and clothing out of bamboo fiber. Intriguing idea!
At Christmas, I like to give everyone one gift with a theme, one that may be variations on the same thing. So I thought, sons, their wives, my grandkids, will all get something to wear made of bamboo. Unfortunately Bamboosa isn't shipping until after New Year's. But through a llittle item in the NY Times style section, I found the company whose website is above.
They don't make much yet for men, just T-shirts and socks, with more for women. I placed an order, and it all arrived today.
Everything is 70% bamboo, 30% organic cotton. T-shirts for the guys, shawls for the females. It's very soft and silky, and it has the interesting property of being naturally antiseptic, anti-bacterial. It seems that if you work up a sweat, you may smell bad, but your T-shirt or socks will smell better.
Bamboo has a huge advantage over other sources of fiber. It doesn't require irrigation, pesticides, fertilizers, or petrochemicals, and as a crop it's not labor-intensive.
I added Kaiser in the title to see if he knows anything about this fabric.
I like what I see. And no, this isn't spam. I don't own stock.
