Any of you listen to funk? Ya know, the p-funk, black cherry, etc etc. I've added this to the list with my dmx and metallica. Don't know why...it just makes me feel good and smile which is nice. I actually tried listening to some P-Funk while I lifted today and I think the stress I put on myself before a big lift was relieved some and some of the pressure to get it died and allowed me to focus more.
They say leading a life as relaxed as possible is best for muscle and strength developement. It must have something to do with mental stress levels increasing some type of chemical in the body, if anyone knows chime in please I have no idea.
Maybe some of us truely do need the funk...gotsta have that funk.

There is a station out of Philadelphia which I've "plugged" before. They play "Funky Fridays" from 5 to about 8 (I think). Great way to get going for the weekend. You can stream them at www.xpn.org. They also play a wide variety of world music and artists you don't hear everyday--great listening....
Why must I feel like that? Why must I chase the cat? Nothin but the dog in me...
I agree, funk definitely makes you feel good. Some of the most laid back people you will ever meet are clones of the funk. I'll put in a plug for WeFunk radio out of Montreal. You can listen 24/7 on their stream at http://www.wefunkradio.com.
I listen to funk all the time when I work out. I have played in all sorts of funk bands too. The best concert I ever went to was Parliament. Bootsy wasn't touring with them at the time, but there were a couple of bass players who had their backs to the audience the whole, show, and then during Star Child they turned around and one of them was Bootsy!

You know how it makes you do "that face", like something's stinkin'
Living in Minneapolis for some years I was lucky enough to experience Prince, Greazy Meal (members of New Power Generation), The Time, and that whole scene.
But the funkiest damn thang I ever did see was Mayte (Prince's ultra-hot ex-wife) shaking her thong-clad ass 10 feet in front of me as Prince played at Paisley Park. mmmm mmmm mmmm...

I have two left feet. I think it sort of defeats the purpose of exercise if you have to have a gallon of vodka in your system before you find the nerve to do it!
