Plato:
Rhetoric is the art of ruling the minds of men.

Plato was a staunch opponent of rhetoric and sophists because he felt they exercised a win at any cost type argumentation style that completely ignored truth and content. He wasn't able to seperate the quality of the man from the value of the tool.

Still, what Plato added to the world far outweighs the fallacy of his personal beliefs.
