Default Brock Lesnar

What are your opinions on this guy? Do you think he will go anywhere in the UFC? Just curious! He's one big MF.

I think he's got as good as chance as anyone else. I'm not sure what kind of striking, or submission defense he has though

Not certain how much it helps in UFC, but Brock use to wrestle for the University of Minnesota (Heavyweight, yeah , big surpise) . He may also have been a NCAA champ, but I am not certain of that.

EDIT:

found this on wikipedia

Lesnar wrestled at Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota where he managed to have a 33-0 record in his senior year. [6] Lesnar later attended the University of Minnesota on a full wrestling scholarship for his junior and senior years of college; his roommate was fellow professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin who also served as Lesnar's assistant coach.[7] Lesnar won the 2000 NCAA wrestling championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999. Prior to joining the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lesnar also wrestled at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota.[3] Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.[8][9]

so he potentially has a good ground game and he has the conditioning and strength training for sure. but wrestling and submission wrestling are very different. it will matter how well he learns to strike and either defend the take down or work off his back. working off your back is a problem for a lot of wrestlers but he has as much conditioning as a professional athlete so i am sure the learning curve isn't that big for him. i hope he does well. his wrestling record is impressive and it would be cool to see him succeed in legitimate competition. also the HW division needs a little shaking up.

I'd say he doesn't have as much chance as anyone else. Lesnar has great physical attributes but we've seen that before with gold medalists such as Kevin Jackson (subbed in about 30 seconds and left the sport) and Royce Alger. Guys like Mark Coleman and Randleman had some success but their stubborness in not developing their all around MMA game put a limit on their success.

I don't expect Lesnar to wreck Mir unless Frank is in terrible shape, but hopefully he realizes he needs to develop more than just wrestling.

This is Lesnar's second MMA fight. He has fought once already in K1 Heros and won.

That said.. I hope Mir submits him fast or Brock will pound the shit out of him for a 3 rounds.

Glad to see Mir more like his old self. Lesnar will still be a force. He just needs experience first.

Yeah...was actually quite impressed by Lesner. Good to see Nog perform the usual though... Restores confidence after the year of upsets!

PS I wonder how much Dana paid him to call Randy out?

Anyone notice in the intro for Tyson Griffith no mention that he trains at Xtreme Couture...They Mention Gray Maynard in the corner but neglected Randy was in the corner...Great job with the camera angles cutting Randy out of the picture.

I think the stoppage and stand up with a point deduction against Lesnar was premature.

Just watched the fights. It was pretty funny how they made no mention of randy at all.

I think the deduction was a bit premature as well.... Give Brock some more experience, and he might be a force... I'm pretty impressed with him

Ya, that's kind of petty of them. Some might call it smart business but I think that's a little extreme.

I didn't think the stoppage was premature. The point deduction was but it didn't affect the result in the end. The stoppage was warranted since the shots to the back of the head are illegal and can be treated the same as a groin strike which can also call for a pause in action. If the ref had allowed the action to continue and just gave a verbal warning then a fighter could gain an unpenalized illegal advantage from such a maneuver.

Brock did as expected for a big strong wrestler... he got a quick takedown and spazzed out like a white belt. I wouldn't say it was "impressive". He tried to impose with his size and strength, as did any wrestler venturing into MMA, and gets caught in a submission. This has been happening since UFC 1.
