Default Forrest VS. Rampage

Next seasons TUF coaches. No offense to Forrest but I think his odds of winning (the title) are none too good.

I think this is the stupidest decision they've made in a while. I'm fine with Forrest being a coach, but Rampage? Did they learn nothing from having Serra as a coach? Rampage should be defending the title against Wanderlei, Jardine, Machida or maaaybe even Sokoudjou around April. Now, being a coach on the show, he wont fight until at least July when he has his bout with Griffin. That's almost a year since his last fight. They should've had Liddell and Griffin be the TUF coaches. Champions should be defending their title. Good job Dana, you idiot.

I think Jackson had some injuries from his fight with Henderson didn't he? Maybe being on the show is an excuse to not have him fighting\healing but keep him in the light?

I agree with both of you.

But lets face it, Dana wants ratings. Forrest and Rampage are pretty damn funny. I'm not saying that Forrest doesn't have a shot, but he really doesn't. I think the show will be funny, but this fight is absolutely ridiculous.

Ya, he broke his hand. But that was 3 months ago. A couple weeks ago he said in an interview he'd able to train again in a few weeks so it's pretty safe to assume he'll be fully healed by the end of the year. Even if he played it extra safe and waited until the end of January he could still have an 8-10 week training camp and fight in early April.

As it is now, TUF starts filming in January and the show doesn't even start airing until April. There are usually a dozen episodes so you can figure he wont be fighting Forrest until July. Unless one of them gets injured a la Serra vs Hughes.

This is one of those things that may be good for the UFCs business but unnecessarily bad for the fans. Having Griffin as a coach makes some sense because he's having shoulder surgery and wouldn't be able to fight soon anyway. Rampage will be healed long before TUF. Most top fighters fight too infrequently as it is. Coaching TUF shouldn't add to that. All they have to do to fix this is have an event with two matches at the same weight class, take one fighter from each match, and start filiming TUF with them a few weeks after. UFC management makes enough money you'd think they'd be able to think of something so easy.

With TUF ratings continually sinking you'd think Zuffa's marketing team would can the show and come up with a new approach, but unfortunately Dana seems to be calling the shots.

Forrest getting a shot over Jardine just confirms Zuffa runs the UFC more as entertainment than sport. Forrest has the visibility and marketability, or at least more than Jardine - so there you go.

Oh, and have you guys seen the recent footage of Chuck training on Youtube? If that shit is for real than Silva is gonna smoke him.

I'm not sure what to think about Rampage as a trainer on TUF. I've seen a fair amount of interview training stuff with both of them though and like you guys are saying, these are cool/funny guys. It will no doubt make TUF a entertaining season. I like Forrest as a coach he's the man.

I am interested in seeing Forest as a coach but I don't really like him all that much as a fighter. His last fight seemed much better but before that I really don't like the way he fought. Oh, and I loved when he ran outta the ring like a baby after the one loss (forget who he lost too at the moment)

I am interested to see how Rampage does as a coach. From what I have read/seen about his training he doesn't really take it as serious as he should and most of what he does is because of HIS trainers telling him to do it and that he needs to. I have a feeling his assistant coach will be his trainer and that guy will do most of the teams coaching.

Ya, the guy Forrest lost to was Keith Jardine. Like Kuri said, he should probably get a title shot before Forrest. I think next season's TUF will be a fun one because both Rampage and Forrest have personality. I just think it could've been as good with other coaches and less fight interference.
