Ya, he broke his hand. But that was 3 months ago. A couple weeks ago he said in an interview he'd able to train again in a few weeks so it's pretty safe to assume he'll be fully healed by the end of the year. Even if he played it extra safe and waited until the end of January he could still have an 8-10 week training camp and fight in early April.
As it is now, TUF starts filming in January and the show doesn't even start airing until April. There are usually a dozen episodes so you can figure he wont be fighting Forrest until July. Unless one of them gets injured a la Serra vs Hughes.
This is one of those things that may be good for the UFCs business but unnecessarily bad for the fans. Having Griffin as a coach makes some sense because he's having shoulder surgery and wouldn't be able to fight soon anyway. Rampage will be healed long before TUF. Most top fighters fight too infrequently as it is. Coaching TUF shouldn't add to that. All they have to do to fix this is have an event with two matches at the same weight class, take one fighter from each match, and start filiming TUF with them a few weeks after. UFC management makes enough money you'd think they'd be able to think of something so easy.
