Default Couture vs. Gonzaga

Is happening Aug. 25th and has the potential to be a very good event.

Place your bets gentlemen.

Main Card Bouts:
-Randy Couture vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
-Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck
-Joe Stevenson vs. Kurt Pellegrino
-Kendall Grove vs. Patrick Cote
-Roger Huerta vs. Alberto Gonzales Crane

Preliminary Bouts:
-Marcus Aurelio vs. Clay Guida
-Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs. David Heath
-Antoni Hardonk vs. Frank Mir
-Thales Leites vs. Ryan Jensen

Though I think Gonzaga could just as easily GnP Randy out I've finally learned not to bet against Captain America. Age has no effect on that man.

Aurelio has a great BJJ game and I'd love to see him sub some guys but Guida's defense is probably good enough to allow him to light Aurelio up on the feet.

I hope Babalu and GSP are out to put on a show of whup ass.

I agree with all of your picks, although the Couture and Gonzaga could go either way. I probably won't be ordering this one but I might goto hooters and watch it haha.

I think the Couture vs Gonzaga fight could go either way, but I'm pulling for Randy. The interesting thing to me is, a lot of people seem to think if the fight goes for any length of time it hurts Randy and I totally disagree with that. I think the longer the fight goes the greater chance Randy has to win. His conditioning is unquestioned and Gonzaga is a pretty big heavyweight who, though he's in good condition, should probably tire faster than Randy.

I think GSP and Babalu will come out strong, especially GSP. I can't picture Koscheck beating GSP unless he can LnP him which he will have trouble doing for long enough to get a victory.

I actually think Mir will win. I'm sure he's not anywhere near his former self but he's had plenty of time to get back into things. I don't think he will but I think he'll find a way to get Hardonk down on the ground and get a sub win.

I just think he's due. No idea who he's training with now but he is durable and even a dog gets a sunny piece of the sidewalk sometimes right?

Ya. I think Grove should win just like I think like Gonzaga should win. But I'm betting on the underdogs in those two matches.

I just hope we get to see a couple of decent bouts! Think we can rely on Couture for a show - but have had so many good fighters just "not show up" this year!?!?!

Who's in for the sweepstake on positive drug tests...I'm going for 2!

I'm definitely buying this one. I cannot wait, I'm going for GSP to beat Koschek, for sure. I'm not too sure about Couture and Gonzaga, but I'm hoping Couture wins. It's gonna be awesome, but unfortunately I'll be watching it alone...

Anyone else see the countdown show?

Man I don't know what's going on with fighter's training these days... Gonzaga is doing KB Turkish getups, snatches, resisted sprinting... GSP doing db snatches, sled pulling, rope pulls, Koschek doing truck pushes... Randy doing snatches and ball slams...

Gimme the good 'ol days of Franklin's machine circuits and Hughes's Weider splits

Picture of the day right here:

It sure is. The Axe Murderer has been training out of Randy's Vegas gym and just signed with the UFC.

Just got back from watching the fight at the bar.

Randy is an animal.

That is all.

1. Better alone than with a squeamish date.

2. A good night to be Canadian.

3. The Sobral fight wasn't broadcast where I was. Anyone see what exactly happened with the chokehold?

That was sweet. I got lucky cuz I messed up my bold on here for Huerta but thankfully I didn't when I placed a bet for money. That was a great night of fights. I still gotta watch the preliminaries but the main card was possibly the best this year.

Randy Couture. wow.

Gonzaga was the bigger, better fighter. had 15 years and 25lbs and got his ass kicked.

watching GSP DOMINATE Kos for 15 mins was wonderful.

Gonzaga just didn't want to be there after Couture broke his nose.

Yeah you could see the fight go right out of Gabe when he couldn't get off the fence. Gonzaga vs Nog would be entertaining though, and I'd love to see him wipe the floor with Sylvia.

Seeing GSP back like that was great - he will have the title again. Period. After Hughes schools guido (and I'm not a Hughes fan ) it'd be fun seeing GSP take the belt and defend it against BJ.

Anyone see the Aurelio/Guida fight online yet?

Just catching up on news here. It seems Babalu was fined $25K for holding onto this choke a bit too long. Apparently his opponent wore a shirt with Babalu's mug shot from a recent arrest on it.

A little payback is a good thing

sucked, Aurelio fought like he did in Gomi II.

Guida was coming at him more than Gomi did in that fight but there's only so much you can do when a guy doesn't wanna fight.

no clue how it was a split decision, there was no reason to give Aurelio any round.

Looks like Gonzaga would have beat up on Randy pretty bad if he could breath. The 3 times he three a punch or a kick Randy staggered. I think Randy's a great fighter, but not the better one. He was very fortunate for the circumstances.

Randy staggered Gonzaga as much with some strikes of his own. Plus he got in takedowns and dirty boxing Gonzaga did nothing to show he had an answer for even before the nose. If we're gonna look at the strikes Gonzaga threw then we have to consider all of that as well. Ya, Gonzaga got some good shots in, but to say it looked like he would've beaten up on Randy if the nose didn't break is a stretch. If they fought again Gonzaga would have a pretty good chance of winning like he did in this fight. But Randy would've won with or without the nose that night.
